About me

I'm a Principal Software Engineer with 20 years of experience building systems and leading teams at startups and scaling companies. I specialize in technical transformation—taking ambiguous problems, dysfunctional codebases, or early-stage ideas and turning them into high-performing engineering organizations and production-ready systems.
My career has been defined by building in high-stakes, resource-constrained environments. I spent nine years as an independent consultant working on complex projects, including a multi-year microservices-based yacht security system integrating multiple protocols and subsystems. I then partnered with WebMax as CTO, where I built two SaaS products from scratch in the mortgage and real estate space, scaling the company to $700K ARR while learning the intersection of product development, business strategy, and technical leadership.
Currently, I'm the Principal Software Engineer at Mortgage Automation Technologies, where I've spent the past 15 months leading a complete technical and organizational transformation. I rebuilt the engineering team from the ground up, eliminated years of accumulated technical debt, and established a high-quality, high-performing culture—all while continuing to ship features and preparing the company for its Series A funding round.
I'm drawn to problems that sit at the intersection of technical depth and organizational complexity: building event-driven architectures, designing systems for scale, remediating legacy infrastructure, and influencing stakeholders to make pragmatic technical decisions. I thrive in environments where autonomy, ownership, and impact matter more than process and hierarchy.
My technical focus areas include microservices architecture, event-driven systems, mortgage and fintech domain expertise, and production-grade integrations with complex third-party platforms. I write here about the technical and leadership challenges I encounter—from Encompass integrations to building quality-first engineering cultures to managing technical debt while shipping.
I'm interested in connecting with engineering leaders tackling complex technical and organizational challenges, and I'm always open to conversations about system design, technical leadership, and building products that matter. Feel free to reach out on LinkedIn or subscribe to follow along as I share what I'm learning.
